A Girl Weekend in Sheffield

Last weekend we had planned to all go and visit the lovely Alicia and introduce Ed to the delights of Sheffield.  However, Ed rang from work on Friday with the devastating news that there was loads going on and he was going to have to stay late and work over the weekend.  Extremely disappointed, we packed up the car and set off rather morosely without him.

We did very little and just had a lovely time footling about!  We wandered round a few charity shops and poked our nose in a couple of antique shops.

One of which had this gorgeous baby potty seat; a very elegant baby commode!

One of the antique shops had a gorgeous little cafe tucked away in the maze of corridors and stacks of old china, gaudy necklaces and beautiful wooden furniture, and we tucked-in to delicious soup served in delicate old soup bowls and a cheese scone nearly the size of Mathilda's head.

I was very restrained and only came home with a couple of treasures!
These gorgeous plates and a cute little egg cup came to a total of £4, hurrah!

We squeezed into this amazing bakery for a loaf of bread and ended up with a pocketful of buns and pastries which looked just too good to resist!

The almond croissant was a buttery heaven and still haunts my dreams.

We did also manage a very chilly walk in the woods to burn off all our buttery treats!

Then back in the car with a snowy farewell and a long but thankfully fairly smooth run down the M1 and home to my abandoned Valentine who treated me with pizza and prosecco cocktails!
