Husband-less DIY

Yikes.

My standard approach to anything is generally "I'll give it a go, how hard can it be?"  Turns out, drilling is actually quite hard...

Our house is a bit short on shelving so I bought a drill (on offer as well, very pleased with my bargain) and some shelves and set to work.  First hurdle: what the heck are all those tiny thingies, why are there so many of them and which one am I supposed to use?

No instructions either - useless, so rang Daddy and got some guidance, phew.  First hole...very bad.  second and third holes not much better, wall plugs wouldn't go in properly but then wouldn't bloody come out again, and then the screws didn't line up with the holes...so that bracket only has two screws and is at a rather alarming angle.

Next didn't go much better, but the shelf is actually almost level!

I did need a few hours recovery before attempting the next shelf which didn't go much more successfully, at which point I decided I would need at least a day of calming nerves and pep talks before I would attempt the final shelf and a curtain rail.  I've been terribly busy since then, shucks...
