Ooops, I have been rather remiss in my blogging recently, sorry! My lovely husband came home a few weeks ago and is now fabulously a) on leave, and b) not going away again for a good long time; hurrah! We have had the loveliest time footling about together, enjoying having our little family complete after such a long time. Here's a bit of what we've been up to...
A few weekends ago we went to Meavy Oak Fair, a fabulously English day out in the countryside, complete with Morris dancing, coconut shies, hotdogs and local cider. It was a perfect sunny day with just the merest sprinkling of rain to make it a genuine British summer day out!
Last weekend we went to Watergate Bay to watch the polo. We had a gorgeous day at the beach with the perfect weather - just cloudy enough to prevent it being roasting, but gorgeously sunny none the less, and revelled in picnic, paddling and tanning.
The ever delicious and increasingly chubby Mathilda had her first experience of sand between her toes and didn't get sunburnt, which I panicked about all day! She wasn't quite her usual chirpy self, being rather out of sorts after her jabs the day before so all the photos are of her looking rather serious and unimpressed, poor thing!
The beach is absolutely beautiful, a huge expanse of sand against a stunning backdrop of dark, rugged cliffs, and miles of horizon across rows and rows of even waves.
We watched 'The Devil's Horsemen', a group of riders and horses who did amazing daredevil stunts on horseback.
This was followed by a polo match on the beach, accompanied by a sneaky Bath Gin and tonic to help counter the chilly wind that turned up as the sun went down.
I've never watched polo before and I loved it!
We went home sandy, tanned and windswept and fell into cool soft sheets and straight to sleep.
