Pancakes!

I'm teaching tomorrow evening so had to bring the batter-y celebrations forward a day...shucks!  I had a sneaky little pancake gathering this evening and we stuffed ourselves silly on piles of pancakes and all sorts of toppings!

Sadly we were so busy stuffing that I forgot to take photos (worst blogger ever), so all I have is a vaguely sort of inspiring-ish, slightly blurry, snap of the point at which we suddenly sat back and groaned and came out of our pancake-stuffing daze.

I made crepes and drop scones, which we ate with lemon and sugar, cheese and ham, white chocolate and raspberries and dark chocolate sauce and sliced banana.

To make a rich chocolate sauce, bring 150ml double cream to simmering point, take off the heat and stir in 100g dark chocolate and 3tbsp milk.  Stir until smooth, serve warm.

Here are the recipes to make your own, enjoy!

It was also just what I needed after a slightly mad afternoon trying to bathe Margot.  She was looking a bit odd this morning and after quite a lot of panicked-mummy internet trawling, I decided she was probably egg bound.  Since I didn't have any calcium tonic (which is apparently the necessary treatment) I found a few home remedies to try out until I can get hold of some tonic.  I therefore had to soak her in a tub of warm water and epsom salts, which she really didn't enjoy, so involved me holding her down in the bucket, and mostly involved a lot of water all over the floor and quite a lot on me.

Then I hair-dryered her so she wouldn't catch cold when she went back outside, which she secretly quite enjoyed and made her all sleepy and floppy.  Anyway, she seems to be feeling better now and hopefully will start laying me some eggs soon!
