We have some very exciting new additions to our family!
Gertie went broody a few weeks ago and so I decided that she had better do something useful and gave her twelve fertile quail eggs to sit on.
She was extremely happy with the arrangement, apart from a few strops when she trampled the eggs willy nilly...so I was soo surprised when I came down to breakfast yesterday to eight tiny stripy fluffy babies!
They are soooo small and soooo absolutely cute.
They are also very snuggly and like looking for snuggly sorts of places.
Sleeves are perfect spots for a cosy snooze.
A lot of time was wasted yesterday playing with them and the next few weeks aren't looking particularly productive either!
Mummy Gertie is very proud of her babies and gets very upset if we cuddle them for too long. She has shown them how to eat and drink and calls to them if they get too far away.
They tend to come out and play for a bit and then there are lots of waggly bottoms and scrabbly legs as they try and squeeze back under Gertie. Then Gertie gets very fat and fluffy and her feathers cheap...
...and all is quiet for a bit until the next adventure...
Well!!!! How totally CUTE! I laughed out loud when I saw that sweet think snuggled up the sleeve............... How darling is that?!!!
