Moving In

So last Friday morning I threw Edward out at the train station and he trundled off to somewhere in the depths of Scotland to join his ship while I was then left to finish the last few house bits and do the walk round with the housing officer.  It actually wasn't stressful at all, as I had completely lost the will to try and finish all the jobs and reach house and garden perfection, (having come to the conclusion the afternoon before that life was too short to worry about it and a worry free evening together was worth any amount of money we might be charged) so I wandered round in a bit of a daze, signed the dotted line and left number 64 forever.  Upon which my body and brain gave out completely and the last thing I felt like doing was driving 5 hours to a cold empty house at the other end of the country.

Luckily my fabulous aunt lives just an hour from where I was so I invited myself to stay and whizzed up the M1 with my last energy reserves.  It was good practise for the chickens who were travelling in luxury....sort of.

(peering at them through the port-hole)

There were regular bouts of very amusing sounds from the box of little fluffy bodies and scrabbly legs sliding about every time we turned a corner.  Poor chickens, little did they know this was only a fraction of what was to come!

I realised rather belatedly that my aunt is redecorating her spare bedroom, but my aunt's magic touch made the z-bed feel like a feather mattress, it looked cosy and homey and my head had hardly touched the pillow before I was fast asleep.

The chickens continued their weekend of luxury spending the night in a wheelie bin kitted out with a perch.

Not very beautiful but very fox proof.  We set off well refreshed next morning, just the chickens and me on a road trip down the M4.  Lovely.

Actually I do love watching the sky when I'm driving, you get amazing views of huge expanses of sky that you rarely get unless you go and find real countryside.

It was also the perfect weather for it, bright blue skies and gorgeous fluffy clouds scudding across them.

I watched a bi-plane with a man sat on top do loop the loops over a services somewhere.

I got bored and took a picture of my elephant skirt, bored legs and sunglasses shoes.

I love the first time you see your destination on the signpost!

The finally we arrived at our new housey and have spent the last few days living in this horror:

It has taken three days for me to find my saucepans, and I can't wait to have a tidy house with nothing on the floor and some clean empty surfaces.  I am going to finish the kitchen tonight (which is the most important room of course), then the pictures are going up tomorrow and I can tackle the dining and drawing rooms!

Updates may be slightly sporadic for a while while I grapple with the phone company and try and get some internet going at home.  Uuuuurrrrggghhhhh hate being on hold.

  1. LOOOOOVE the skies - (though a teeny tiny bit worried about your snapping shots while zooming along????) Nice kind auntie - looks like a lap of luxury to me...
And it just looks very strange to see 'your' kitchen with a cooker where there should be a fridge...!! Must be the similarity of the cupboards - I had to do a double take to really check it wasn't London!!
